There’s masses of information out there about what happens to you on a physical level, even down to the week-by-week changes. But do you know what’s happening to your body on an energetic level?
Different parts of our energy body become more important during pregnancy, and nourishing them is an important aspect to holistically taking care of ourselves while we’re pregnant.
Pregnancy involves all of us, not just our physiology. The energy systems of our body are also affected.
Understanding which parts of our energy are working the hardest means we can support ourselves on an energetic level as well as taking care of our physical and mental health.
We access and use our creative energy when we're pregnant, and that energy comes from our sacral chakra, the energy center in the lower part of our abdomen.
The sacral chakra also provides the energy for our reproductive organs, so the more energy we have in the sacral chakra, the more energy is available for our baby, which can support a stronger, healthier, more comfortable pregnancy.

Pregnancy is a very feminine experience, when we're embodied in the most feminine version of ourselves.
Pregnancy demands us to step into the unknown, to yield and surrender - all qualities of the feminine. As we grow in our pregnancy, our balance of masculine and feminine energy shifts towards the feminine.
Our bodies become rounder and softer, and we become a vessel for the divine feminine to move through us.
This divine feminine energy is also connected to our sacral chakra.
Our bodies use energy from different energetic centers for different purposes. From a Traditional Chinese Medicine perspective, to nourish and sustain a pregnancy, our bodies use the energy in our kidneys.
When we're pregnant, we draw on the energetic reserve in our kidneys, and we can nourish them to make sure we have enough energy in our system to support us to have a vibrant pregnancy.
In TCM, kidney energy is really important for our vitality. When we use a lot of it we can get depleted. We use a lot of it in pregnancy which means we can easily feel exhausted, both during pregnancy and in postpartum.
There are many ways you can support the energy in your body. The easiest way is with Reiki. You can do it yourself, or you can have your partner or care provider learn how to do it for you.
By giving Reiki to these key energy centers, you can support the energetic aspect of your changing body.
However you choose to support yourself energetically during your pregnancy, including this aspect of yourself will help you feel stronger, healthier and more prepared for the next steps on your journey.
